Antone’s Nightclub, the first club on 6th Street in downtown Austin, Texas, opened its doors on July 15, 1975 with the great Clifton Chenier & His Red Hot Louisiana Band. The blues venue was founded by legendary promoter Clifford Antone and has hosted such blues “greats” as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Pinetop Perkins, James Cotton and countless others. It has also helped develop local talent like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Schneider, Gary Clark Jr., and others. In 2015 the historic brand was restored and a new team brought the iconic venue back to the downtown Austin landscape with a renewed focus on once again making Antone’s the “Home of the Blues".
