PGP RTS

Yugoslav label PGP RTS (Produkcija gramofonskih ploča Radio-televizije Srbije, official English name: RTS Records (3)) was founded under the name PGP RTB in 1959, as the record production arm of the Radio-television of Belgrade (RTB). As the Radio-television of Belgrade became the Radio-television of Serbia (RTS) in 1992, the label changed its name as well. The catalog numbering system used by PGP RTS, from its founding in 1993 up to the present day, is the six-digit system introduced by PGP RTB in 1988: xY###z where: "x" denotes the format of the release, "Y" denotes the kind of content, ### is a sequential number, "z" is a check digit. Formats (x): 1Y – unused by PGP RTS, used by PGP RTB for 7” records 2Y – one LP 3Y – multiple LPs 4Y – digital disc (often prefaced with "CD" or “DVD”) 5Y – cassette (rarely prefaced with "AK" or “KS”) 6Y – cassette (post-2000, see below) 7Y – *unused* 8Y – VHS Content (Y): x0 – folk x1 – pop/rock/jazz x2 – licensed foreign recording of any genre (excluding classical) x3 – classical (Yugoslav performers) x4 – classical (foreign performers) x5 – children's x6 – spoken word/theatre x7 – *unused* x8 – *unused* x9 – non-music video content (on VHS releases, excluding content relating to theatre or classical music, which was released under 6), video content in general (DVD releases, see below) Notes: - in 2000, the 50###z range (cassette, folk) had been exhausted and PGP RTS began using the 60###z range instead. - in 2003, PGP RTS began releasing DVDs with the content ("Y") number 9 exclusively, regardless of the actual content.
