American jazz bassist who has performed and recorded with many jazz legends and ensembles, including Diana Krall, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, Roy Haynes and Chick Corea as well as with pop, soul and classical musicians like Kathleen Battle, Carly Simon, Sting, Randy Crawford and James Brown.
