Message were a progressive rock band based in Germany formed by bassist in autumn 1968. In spring 1970, British guitarist joined the band and vocalist and winds player followed his former bandmate in autumn 1970. McGuigan took his friend in the band and the line-up was completed by drummer . Between 1972 and 1980 they recorded seven albums. McGuigan left after the fourth, "Synapse". After founder Stachelhaus left the band in 1977, Murdoch continued to lead the band through several lineup changes and a succession of three different lead singers: (on "Using The Head", later with ), (on their track on the Brain Festival live album) and (on their last two albums: "Astral Journeys" and "Miles of Smiles").
