Robbie Basho

American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist. Born on August 31, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland (USA). Died on February 28, 1986, in Berkeley, California (USA). Born David Robinson, he changed his name around 1959 inspired by the Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō. He specialised in the acoustic steel string guitar and often used Eastern modes and scales. He died unexpectedly in an accident aged 45. In October 2015 a documentary about Basho premiered in London, directed by and titled Voice Of The Eagle (The Enigma Of Robbie Basho).
