Fly Pan Am is a Montreal-based rock quintet formed in 1996 and played their earliest shows with many of the city’s emerging instrumental/experimental rock groups (including Exhaust, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and The Shalabi Effect) in various alternate venues and extra-official warehouses during the late-90s. They have an ear for melody and approach to (de)construction that revealed the twin influences of French pop & krautrock, as well as a forward-looking experimentalism guided by an unshakeable faith in the unfulfilled possibilities of minimalism and musique concrète in punk rock. After four releases of chiming instrumental rock propelled by insistent motorik drumming and interweaving guitar and bass lines that unfold with obstinate rigour on from 1998–2005, they went on hiatus in 2006, and in 2018 the band’s four founding members reformed the band, having released the album "C'est ça" in 2019.
