Confide was a post-hardcore/metalcore band from Los Angeles, California, United States formed in 2004. Confide was formed by Joshua Plesh, Aaron Van Zutphen, Billy Pruden, Jason Pickard and Jeff Helberg. The first two EP's were recorded with this lineup: Innocence Surround and Introduction. In the end of 2006, drummer Jason Pickard left the band and was replaced by John Paul Penton. Joshua Plesh also left the band. Ross Kenyon (who was fronting PenKnifeLoveLife in the UK at that time) contacted Jeff Helberg through the internet and told him he wanted to sing in an American band because his girlfriend lived there. After being in the States for three months, Ross was forced to move back to England and John decided to quit the band. In July, Ross moved back to California and Arin Ilejay joined the band on the drums. In this formation they recorded Shout The Truth and their music video for If We Were A Sinking Ship. In early 2009 two new members were introduced to the band: Joshua Paul and Joel Piper. With Joel taking over the clean vocals, they released a reissue of Shout The Truth and also a cover of The Postal Service's 'Such Great Heights'. They also recorded a videoclip for that song. In August of 2009 Billy Pruden, bass player and founding member, left the band. He was replaced by Trevor Vickers. They also recorded a music video for 'I Never Saw It Coming' in September of 2009. In December 2009 the band recorded their new album with Joey Sturgis. The album was released in May 2010. On October 4th, 2010, it was officially announced by Confide of their breakup. They have stated that they'll part ways when they return from their tour of Japan in early October. The fans missed Confide and the band listened to the words online. The band started a Kickstarter campaign and on September 30, 2012 Confide was successfully funded and had received $38,709 in fan support for their album project to be released in 2013 called All Is Calm. Confide performed on several festivals after this. The members of Confide have gone on to take part in many other bands and projects, most notably Avenged Sevenfold and Of Mice & Men. Former drummer Arin Ilejay joined Avenged Sevenfold and then was fired from the band, but as of 2015 has joined the nu metal band Islander. Drummer Joel Piper started his own solo project after quitting Of Mice & Men, and later the band Lifelong with also previous Confide members Ross Kenyon and Trevor Vickers. Aaron Van Zutphen currently plays in the metal band Nekrogoblikon.
