Marka is the nickname of , a Belgian singer, musician, film maker and author, born on 27 May 1961 near Brussels. Married to , and father of & . He grew up in Molenbeek and started his musical career in 1978 in a punk band called The Profiles, singing and playing bass. In 1981 Marka joined , who released 2 albums of which 1 reached gold status in Belgium. He then formed in 1983, a garage-rock band, and in 1988 he formed Bla Bla Bla, a rock/rap combo. In 1992 he started making solo records. In 2007 there was the project. (He was given the nickname Markassou by an African friend and it was later shortened to Marka.)
