Halloween is a heavy metal band from Detroit, Michigan, USA, that was formed in 1981 under the name Bitch. The band changed its name to Halloween in 1983. Not to be confused with Bitch (2) or Halloween (13) from California. Halloween was started by vocalist Brian Thomas, guitarist Rick Craig and bassist George Neal with drummer Chuck Burns (later of Seduce) and guitarist Mark Scott (later of Murder City). Drummer Bill Whyte (ex Nightmare) would soon replace Chuck Burns. Mark Scott would also soon exit, leaving the band with one guitarist. On October 31st, 1983, the band unveiled it's new name, "Halloween", and became known as "Detroit's Heavy Metal Horror Show". They combined musical theatrics (ala fellow Detroit native Alice Cooper) with a heavier brand of metal that was emerging at the time in the vein of Judas Priest, Twisted Sister and Savatage. Rick Craig and Bill Whyte would depart in the summer of 1989 and would be replaced by Billy Gray (formerly of , Invain and Fair Game) on lead guitar and drummer Tommy Stewart (future Godsmack, Lillian Axe and Lo-Pro drummer) around September of 1989. This lineup recorded the "Vicious" demo release and did several shows with Crimson Glory on their "Transcendence" tour. This lineup would disband by the middle of 1990 and in came guitarists Donny Allen (formerly of Black Onyx (4) and future member) and Tim Wright (formerly of Detroit thrash band ) as well as drummer Bill "BA!" Adams (future Sponge (3) drummer). Tim Wright would be out of the band by the end of 1990, although his contributions would still make the "No One Gets Out" album in 1991. In 1993, Rick Craig and Bill Whyte returned to the band for a short lived reunion. The band broke up for the first time officially on October 31st, 1993 after a final farewell show at Harpos Concert Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. The band has since reunited with several different lineups and has issued several further studio recordings. They continue to perform live and record to this day.
